Lifetime membership for WW2 Veterans

We currently have 40 WW 2 veterans who are on the Association’s roster. The Executive Board has voted to establish a fund to confer lifetime membership on these veterans, several of whom have been regular members and supporters of the Association from its inception in 1947.  These veterans have kept faith with their buddies throughout.  The Board’s goal is to confer these memberships at the upcoming reunion   To do this we are asking descendants and friends for voluntary donations to a lifetime membership fund in their honor.  You may include a donation with your dues renewal or just make a donation. Any and all donations are welcome as we thank  them for their service, sacrifice and for the freedom that we too often take for granted today. ...

74th Reunion Information

As we near the date of our 74th “Annual” Reunion, we have been working hard on our plans to have a great reunion. This time, because we anticipate attendance by “first timers”, we will have a “Meet and Greet” on Wednesday evening. Those of us who have been to reunions will renew those friendships while welcoming newcomers to our ranks. On Veterans’ Day, we should be one of the first groups to tour the National Museum of the United States Army.We plan to spend the day visiting the various exhibitions representing the history of the Army from its earliest days to the present. We can take our time on the first level going through the various eras and walk through the Soldier’s Stories Gallery. We plan to enjoy a box lunch at mid-day, and also conduct our Reunion’s First General Session. After lunch, we can spend the afternoon taking in the special exhibit (currently the “Art of Soldiering”) on the second...

2020 Reunion Postponed

Reunion Postponed Anyone who had already made a room reservation for this year has had that reservation automatically cancelled due to the cancellation of the contract. You do not need to contact the hotel. One thing that I learned in the Army was that there is nothing as permanent as change. With all of the planning, signing of the contracts, making deposits on those contracts, preparing the budget and registration forms, and waiting to be first in line for Pentagon tours (can only be made 90 days out from the desired date), who would have thought that a pandemic would break the continuous string of annual reunions of the 83rd Infantry Division Association. Several things were taken into consideration in making the decision to cancel: The Governor of Virginia had locked down the state with many restrictions. As of this printing, it has been extended until at least May 28 for Northern Virginia and may be extended after that date. Our hotel, luncheons, Arlington Cemetery/Army...
